About us
Deafness is a hidden and isolating disability, not only for a deaf child but for the whole family.
We are a small completely voluntary charity providing information, contacts and subsidised events for families whose deaf children need cochlear implants to access sound. The majority of deaf children are educated in mainstream schools and maybe the only deaf child in their class, or even the whole school. Attending CICS Group events can help to end that gives deaf children and their families valuable opportunities to make friends with those who face the same challenges.
We offer first-hand experience of the difference that cochlear implantation can make to the lives of deaf children and their families. We can help with issues that surround life with an implanted child to provide a vital part of the pre and post implantation process – support for parents by parents.
With no office or paid staff, donations go direct to helping us provide newsletters, events and activity weekends to enable families to share experiences, learn from one another and feel reassured by belonging to a network of families facing the same challenges.
